It would seem that in the world dominated by technology, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly intelligent, people with a background in humanities and social sciences might be at a disadvantage on the job market. According to 'The Future of Employment: How susceptible are jobs to automation', a report by the Oxford University's Martin School, jobs that require interdisciplinary approach, quick thinking, creativity, imagination, empathy, a high degree of social intelligence and negotiating skills are least likely to be performed by machines in the future. These occupations include: artists, designers, business managers, marketing and sales professionals, psychologists, therapists, social workers, teachers, authors, translators, and lawyers.

It bodes well for graduates of SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities. To further improve their employment outlook, the university will be hosting the Human Skills Conference, where students will have an opportunity to attend various workshops and meet potential employers.

Graduates of Humanities and Social Sciences Wanted

During the conference, representatives of various organizations will talk about the hard and soft skills that graduates of humanities and social sciences contribute to the economy. Employers will present career opportunities that require a variety of skills acquired during language, psychology or culture studies. A panel consisting of students, employers and various organizations will discuss the realities of the contemporary job market and best solutions for an effective employer-employee relationship. Moreover, graduates and students of SWPS University, who have started their own businesses will share their stories, including highlights and lowlights of running a business.

Participants of Human Skills Festival will receive a discount card entitling them to special promotional prices on goods and services offered by the young entrepreneurs from SWPS University. Students can also bring their CVs for review by professionals and have their photo taken to use on a CV or on professional platforms and job boards. The lectures and workshops will be recorded to share the knowledge with a wider community and to promote our enterprising students.

Increasingly, employers require advanced foreign language skills from their potential employees, therefore they conduct interviews in English.
