Nowadays, many entrepreneurs are not only focused on building businesses and making a profit, but they are also keen on making a difference in the world. This new type of approach to business is called social entrepreneurship and it employs various techniques to develop, fund and implement solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues.

Social entrepreneurs come in different forms and sizes. They include for-profit businesses, hybrid models combining charitable work with business activities, non-profit charities, voluntary sector organizations and non-governmental organizations. Philanthropists, social activists, environmentalists, and other socially-oriented practitioners are also referred to as social entrepreneurs.

Professor Barbara Klimek, from Arizona State University, will introduce the concept of Social Entrepreneurship during the lecture in the series “The Challenges to the Humanities of the 21st Century”, organized by SWPS University Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies Program.

Lecture open to the public – free admission.
