The Faculty of Design in Warsaw is the newest faculty established at SWPS University in 2020. The faculty offers two programs of study: Design (School of Form) and Psychology and Computer Science. Both of these programs combine humanities and social sciences with practical design education, rooted in technologies and craftsmanship. Cooperation with our community and the University’s business partners is a crucial element of our teaching process.

Students have an opportunity to acquire design skills and study in a new part of the building that was especially restored and refurbished to meet the needs of School of Form. A bright new space of close to 2,000 square meters houses a ceramics studio, woodworking workshop, sewing workroom, a drawing studio, digital studio, fabric dyeing and screen printing workshop, a model making workshop as well as a generous work space, computer labs, and a space for teachers.

The Faculty offers modern study programs, developed in cooperation with business experts, design and technology sectors, and international academic community. There are two programs of study to choose from, including: Design in Polish (full-time and part-time) and in English (full-time) as well as Psychology and Computer Science (full-time).

Design (School of Form)

Our Design program has been offered by SWPS University since 2011. Until the end of the 2019/2020 academic year, the program was available at SWPS University in Poznań. In 2012, it was recognized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education among the best study programs meeting the requirements of the Polish Qualifications Framework, while in 2016 the program received positive assessment of the Polish Accreditation Committee. Over the years, over 200 undergraduate students completed the program and went on to successful careers in the design industry or have been continuing their education at the best Polish and foreign universities. The Design study program (offered under the School of Form brand name) is widely recognized both in Poland and abroad.

Our interdisciplinary Design program stands out among other programs of its kind thanks to the original teaching philosophy, which combines design competencies with knowledge of humanities and social sciences. After eight years in Poznań, we have decided to move the program to Warsaw, the Polish center of design and creative industries. The new location on the main campus of SWPS University, where other study programs, such as psychology, cultural studies, management, law, and communication are offered, and might also be of interest to and provide tools for designers, creates a better environment for development and collaboration with a diverse team of researchers, academics, and practitioners.

Students of the Design program may choose one of the four specializations: Communication Design (in Polish), Domestic Design (in Polish), Fashion Design (in Polish), and Industrial Design (in Polish and English).

Psychology and Computer Science

The Psychology and Computer Science program innovatively combines analytical skills with a wide range of professional competencies sought after by employers, coupled with psychological and technological knowledge that provides a foundation for understanding behaviors in a fast developing and tech-saturated society. The program meets the needs of the job market that requires specialists who combine information technology skills with social competencies and an understanding of cultural processes. References to contemporary problems of our civilization, global threats and their links to new technology, and the growing needs of users are an important component of the program.

The Psychology and Computer Science program is addressed to graduates of high schools and vocational schools, who are interested in psychology, culture, sociology, and are curious about new technologies.

Students of the Psychology and Computer Science program may choose one of the two specializations:
UX Research & Design (in Polish) »
Psychology of Artificial Intelligence (in Polish) »
